The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce is holding a viewing party of the Deep Creek Lake area/Garrett County episode of “Getting Away Together” on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 6 pm in the lower level of Uno Chicago Grill Deep Creek.
The episode filmed in Garrett County was made possible by the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, Garrett County Economic Development, Railey Mountain Lake Vacations, Bill’s Marine Service, Bill’s Outdoor Center, Honi-Honi Bar, Uno Chicago Grill Deep Creek Lake, Arrowhead Market, Garrett 8 Cinemas, Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations and Long & Foster Resort Rentals. The episode will serve as a valuable marketing tool for the region to use in the years to come.

"Getting Away Together” follows participants staying together underneath the same roof in vacation rental homes, villas and condos across America. The series is produced by Emmy Award-winning PineRidge Film & Television Company for distribution exclusively on PBS member stations nationwide. The first season will feature 10 dynamic travel destinations, including Garrett County and the Deep Creek Lake area episode, during the series run.
A military family, Mike & Alexis Piet from Arlington, VA were selected to be featured in the episode. The episode follow Mike & Alexis, their parents and family friends John, Mara and their son Jack as they visit Wisp Resort, the Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival, Adventure Sports Center International, Honi-Honi Bar, Swallow Falls State Park, a local Farmer’s Market and training for the annual Garrett County-based annual SavageMan Triathlon, a world-acclaimed triathlon that fights skin cancer.
