Savage Man Triathalon

The inaugural Savage Man Triathalon is only six weeks away.  Registration price increases on August 15 for all divisions.  State Park and County permits limit this inaugural field to 350 participants, so don't delay in signing up.  All proceeds benefit the Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation.

ASCI Showdown Report from AtlanticKayaker

AtlanticKayaker posts on the ASCI Showdown last week along with some great photos.  Kelsey Thompson has some nice words for the whitewater course.

ASCI is definitely one of the best man made white water parks I have ever been to. The features are fully adjustable via air bladders underneath the feature, it’s probably the only place where you can surf and yell to a guy on shore, “make it more of a wave” and within seconds it is! The only course that I’ve paddled that is better than ASCI is the site of the 2005 World Championships in Penrith, Australia. I think with time and some tweaking the ASCI course will blow it out of the water.

Get Involved at Adventure Sports Center

Adventure Sports Center International is looking for volunteers to help with events, trail clean up and community programs. The ASCI volunteer program offers an opportunity to get involved at the only mountain top recirculating whitewater course, as well as rock climbing and hiking venues at Fork Run Recreation Area.  By participating you can work along side the staff members who run the facilities and you'll get a chance to meet some of the world's top athletes who will come to the Center to play and compete.  ASCI provides all the training, equipment and opportunities you'll need for an adventurous summer.

Volunteer orientation sessions will be held on the following dates:

June 9th          6pm - 7:30 pm

June 14th         9am - 10:30 am

Some of the jobs that volunteers can take part in include registration, athlete/sponsor liaisons, media assistance, roadies, judging, parking, crowd management, after party assistants and clean up crew.  In addition to the benefits mentioned above, volunteers also will enjoy event tee-shirts, free tickets to events and other cool things like Fork Run passes and/or time on the white water course.

Some of the events that volunteers will participate in include:

The ASCI Showdown and Invitational - June 30th

The 2007 Whitewater Slalom National Championships - July 30th - August 4th

The first annual "Autumn Glory" Adventure Triathlon - October 13th.
