Fri. May 14 8:00 am Let’s Go Birding at Sang Run Discover local breeding birds with one of Garrett County’s most avid birders. You’ll learn how to bird by ear and listen for distinctive songs as we stroll through Friends Delight. Bring binoculars and meet at the Kayak launch. 1 1/2hr.
Sat. May. 15 11:00 a.m. Spring Hike. Hike with a naturalist through the spring woods in search of wildflowers, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. You never know what we will see!
1:30 p.m. Wild About Mammals. Learn about the mammals of Garrett County and their history as people settled here. See some of the center’s animal skins up close and learn to identify animals using their pelts. 45 min
Sun. May. 16 Hourly Encounters. 12 pm, 1 pm, and 2 pm Hourly Encounters. Join a naturalist at the top of each hour to meet one of our center critters up close and personal. Meet at the front desk.

Sun. May. 23 11:00 a.m. Black Bear Hike. Hike with the naturalist along the snakeroot trail in search of black bears. You will also be able to learn about black bears and their habitats. We may even be lucky enough to see one!!
1:30 -2:30 p.m. Aviary Encounter. Come to the aviary to get up close and personal with our birds of prey. Bring a camera because they will be perched for a great photo opportunity!
Friday May 28th State Furlough Day no Programs.
Sat. May. 29 11:00 a.m. Wildflower Walk. Take a walk around the Discovery Center with the naturalist to learn the many species of flowers in our area. You will also be able to enjoy our native wildflower tea and learn of some of the medicinal values of these plants.
1:30 p.m. Roving Naturalist. Find the naturalists at the beach to discover what items they have brought. There may even be some live animals!
7:30 p.m. Campfire The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Join us at the amphitheater for a scales and tales program. You will see many wild animals such as hawks, owls, turtles, snakes, and more! Come early to roast marshmallows.
Sun. May. 30 7:00 a.m. Morning Hike. Join the naturalist bright and early for an enjoyable hike through the woods. This is the best time to witness many species of wildlife such as deer, bear, birds, and more!!
