Visit the weekly Mountain Fresh Farmers Market in Oakland on Saturday mornings from 10am - 1pm. (If you miss it Saturday, you can always catch them on Wednesday, same time same place.)
The Garrett County Home Show is taking place Saturday and Sunday at the Garrett County Fairgrounds.

Music at Penn Alps presents Vitali String Quartet at 7:30 pm on Saturday.
The weekly Old Time Jam takes plan on Saturday night at New Germany State Park - 6:30-9:30 PM. Musicians and listeners of all ages are invited to share and enjoy traditional folk, bluegrass, and other “old-time” Appalachian music. The “Jam” will take place at the Lake House from 6:30 – 9:30 PM. Admission is free, and food and gift items will be available for purchase.
On Saturday or Sunday, visit Snowbird Creations Glass Studio for the "First Light of Summer" Open House/Studio Tour between 11am - 4pm on both days.

New Germany State Park, Paddle Like a Pro at 4:00 PM
This weekly activity includes hands-on instruction on basic paddling techniques, followed by free time to explore New Germany Lake by kayak, canoe, or row boat. Paddle Like a Pro is offered every Friday, weather permitting. Cost is $5.00 per boat. Boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Meet at the Lake House.

Take a Hike at New Germany State Park: Monroe Run Hike, 11:00 AM
In celebration of the first day of summer, New Germany State Park will be hosting a guided 4.6-mile hike on Saturday, June 21st. The cost of the hike is $10 per person, which includes a bandana, snacks, and shuttle service to and from the hike. Participants are required to pre-register by calling the Ranger Station at 301-895-5453.

On Friday at Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center:
11:00 a.m. Creating an Owl - Join the Naturalist as they talk about the adaptations and secrets of owls. Meet one of the owls up close and then create your own. Develop nature journaling skills through observation and drawing or just come for fun.
2:00 p.m. All Cracked up Join us in the discovery room to view awesome images of animals hatching from eggs while learning all about them. We will then be making a eggs-e-lent craft!
On Saturday at Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center:
11:00 a.m. What’s that Reptile? Come to the Discovery Center to learn about the reptiles and amphibians in the center and even have a chance to touch these amazing cold blooded creatures! Approx. 45 minutes. Free
11:00 a.m. Little Guard For kids age 5-7. Meet at the beach and learn the skills of a lifeguard. Kids will run a relay, practice throwing a lifesaving device, learn how to recognize a troubled swimmer and more. NO swimming required. Free
8:00 p.m. Campfire Program Join us at the amphitheater for a variety of program topics, marshmallows and more!.Free

Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center
11am Aquatic Adventures - for this exciting adventure! Check out fish traps, aqua scopes and learn about the critters that call Deep Creek Lake home. Approx. ½ hour, Free.
2 pm Aviary Encounter. Come to the aviary to get up close and personal with our birds of prey. Learn some interesting facts and watch them eat! Bring a camera because they will be perched for a great photo opportunity! Free.
New Germany State Park, "What is Hemlock Woolley Adelgid?" 11:00 AM
Come learn about this invasive species and what can be done to stop it. This is an informative talk with the naturalist where you can find out what we are doing to protect our beautiful hemlock trees. Meet at the Nature Center Next to the Lake House.
