As part of their 250 Anniversary Celebration, the Town of Friendsville hosts its first 5K Run and 3K Walk on May 16, 2015 along Kendall River Trail.
Officiating and timing for the event will be provided by Queen City Striders, of Cumberland, MD and the trail is marked by Garrett Trails. Prize money will be provided to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Runners and 3K walking participants will have a chance at winning prize drawings. 3K Walkers are especially encouraged to come and have fun, meet new people and forget the competition! The first 50 registered participants will get a T-shirt and registration forms can be downloaded at visitfriendsville.org. Same day registration is at 8:00 AM at the Northern Rescue Squad, located at 67 Friendsville Road, Friendsville, MD 21531.
Following alongside the Youghiogheny River in the Wild and Scenic River Corridor, Kendall Trail is a former rail road bed that is now a scenic trail with a very gentle grade. Race/Walk spectators are welcome to walk up the trail and enjoy the riverside views and numerous rocks and shady places to picnic.
