OTTs 7th Annual Christmas Market on December 7 at St. Peter’s Parish Social Hall
On Saturday, December 7, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Our Town Theatre's 7th Annual Christmas Market will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church Parish Social Hall, as part of Oakland, Maryland’s “A Great Small Town Christmas.” Shoppers meet two floors of local artists, learn about their handmade work, and support the Theatre's Backstage, which is the scenery, costume and prop shop.
New Market activities include visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus and posing for portraits with Bello's Portraits. To make reservations for portraits, please call 301- 533-0330. Shop for unique, handmade gifts, savor chili and Fair Trade coffee and tea at the Christmas Café, find Christmas goodies at the Bake Sale, enjoy live music with friends, and meet local authors, who will autograph their books throughout the day.
Marsh Mountain Consort will open the Christmas Market with Renaissance Recorder arrangements at 10:00 a.m. Aurora Celtic will play their acoustic original and traditional tunes and sell their acclaimed CDs from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. St. Mark’s Handbell Quartet, directed by Lynn Grimm, will fill the hall with holiday spirit from noon to 1:00 p.m. Morbheanna’s Celtic fireside pipes and percussion will serenade the hall from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Ron Rogers will follow with acoustic faith folk-rock, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
New to the market this year are local furniture artist Kenneth Michaels of Hickory Hollow Woodshop. Marci McClive and Lynn McClive Farnsworth of Just Because Card Company, Brenda Caldwell of Aunt B’s Place Steam Punk Jewelry, Bev Sincell and Miriam Sincell Burton’s Gluten-Free Goodies, and Julie Adams’ Younique Boutique Vintage Jewelry. Christie Elmlinger’s incredible sock animals and baby outfits and Debora Robinette’s elegant bird and bat houses of Nature’s Unique Beauty will be back this year.
Fine artists Robert Yonke, Jillian Mazur, and Josh Gambetta will present their current paintings, cards, and prints. Barbara Englander’s Seeds for Dreams, and Mountain Heart Farm Soy Candles, jewelry artist Connie Pardini’s Wirestorm Creations, and Darlene and Dave Terlizzi’s Sunnyside Wools will provide myriad options for Christmas gifts as well. Glass Artist Anthony Wroten of Simon Pearce has created a unique glass Christmas Tree on a lighted base; $5 raffle tickets, or 5 for $20, will be sold at the Christmas Market. There will be a 50-50 raffle and the raffle of a festive, hand-crocheted Christmas Afghan.
Reggie’s Favorite Dog Biscuits, a popular item, may be pre- ordered by November 22 by visiting OTTs website www.ourtowntheatre.org and selecting the “Fundraisers” tab. Pre-orders must be picked up and paid for at the Christmas Market. Reggie’s Dog Biscuits come in several varieties. For $3 you can purchase a bag of biscuits in designs of either three large squirrels or three large bones, or $4 per bag for a dozen small bones. Additional bags of biscuits will be sold at the market, only while supplies last!
