Braitman’s metalwork has been featured in many shows throughout the region and has been awarded “Best in Show” on multiple occasions. He specializes in combining traditional blacksmithing techniques with contemporary design, often merging metals with glass, stone, and found objects. “Together they sometimes make a stronger statement than any of the elements individually,” says Braitman. “Incorporating materials found in nature lends a soothing, comforting feel for me,” he adds. Braitman is the owner of Carey Run Forge in Frostburg, Maryland.
The workshops are free of charge, and will take place outside the New Germany Lake House from 7-9 p.m. For more information, please call the Ranger Station at 301-895-5453.
