Robert Yonke Watercolor Workshop
Artist Robert Yonke will teach a Watercolor Workshop for Garrett College's Northern Outreach Center this spring. The workshop will accommodate participants of all levels. For the first-time watercolor painter, including experienced painters new to watercolor, there will be a discussion of materials and tips on how to use them most effectively. For the more experienced watercolor painter there will be how-to’s on use of different materials, loosening up through relaxation, developing an individual style, gathering source for new paintings, building a painting with solid design and taking personal art public. For the very experienced watercolor painter, there will be opportunities to share ideas, points-of-view, creative approaches, etc.
Some painting time will be focused on a single subject but with the interpretation and content left to the individual painter. This is one of the more important phases of the workshop as individual approaches are exposed and shared as a learning experience. For all, there will be opportunities for painting as a group but with individual choice of subject matter and tips for improvement. A material list will be provided upon registration.
Yonke works out of his two home studios, one in Pittsburgh, PA and the other in Garrett County, Maryland. His watercolors reflect his love of music, the mountains and the outdoors. Bob’s award winning paintings have been shown in many galleries throughout the region. He is a member of the Garrett County Arts Council, Participating Artists of the Turkeyfoot Highlands. His original paintings, prints and cards can be found in shops and galleries nationwide and on line at www.appalachianstudio.com.
