In conjunction with National Tourism Week, events are being held at Maryland's Welcome Centers to encourage visitors to explore Maryland. As part of these events, a ribbon cutting ceremony for a newly installed electronic information kiosk at Sideling Hill will be held today at 2pm. This outdoor kiosk provides after-hours assistance, such as printed information and directions to accommodations, recreation, dining and shopping in Garrett, Washington and Allegany counties. Refreshments will be available. The event is open to the public.
Similar electronic information kiosks are currently located in Garrett County at the Kitzmiller Store in Kitzmiller, at the Shoppe at Heritage Square at the Oakland Train Station and at the Garrett County Visitors Center in McHenry.
Maryland’s latest visitor data confirms that in 2006, the State welcomed more than 28 million visitors who generated more than $11.4 billion in visitor spending.
